The Liberty Emergency Radio Club was formed as a public service for the Clay County area. We include the cities of Liberty, Kearney, Gladstone, Claycomo, Pleasant Valley and the North Kansas City area.
Our goal is to provide a platform for members to gain experience using their radios, gain technical expertise, learn how to program radios, receive training on emergency situations and other various applications. We are a varied group of individuals and have much to learn from each other.
Ham Radio is a useful tool within the community and a fun hobby. We want to share it with all that have a Ham Radio license or desire to obtain a license.
Developing through education to maintain a corps of trained amateur radio operators ready to provide emergency communications when traditional systems fail, while fostering technical excellence, preparedness and a supportive community of radio amateurs.
Forward looking community of amateur radio operators that fosters an inclusive, supportive club environment that attracts and mentors new operators, retains experienced members, provides public service through wireless innovation and builds lasting camaraderie
- The club hosts in-person monthly amateur radio testing sessions (e.g., at the Kearney Library) to help you obtain or upgrade your license.
- Maintaining a current web site with a library of information that can be accessed by members and the community
- The club hosts guidance on programming radios, building technical expertise, and understanding emergency protocols at least twice a year
- Assisting with ham radio communications for local civic events, parades, and charity races in the Northland and Greater Kansas City area.
